My iPhone 12 pro is not working properly. Screen keeps becoming unresponsive on settings, phone, spotlight and also restarting randomly. I Believe it’s software but was advised to get a replacement, however there is zero stock in store and they won’t do advance replacements for the 12 pro.

My only option is to be without a phone for a week while they receive this and send a replacement, or keep checking store stock to try get an exchange.

They can’t extend the return window even though it’s faulty and they have zero stock, so if come next Friday, the store doesn’t have stock in.. I’ll have to keep it and use Apple care for replacement. I can’t be without it for a week as I use it for work (deliveroo).

Very disappointed in Apple and the experience with my 12 pro so far!

Yeah apple customer service has been going down through the years. I would keep checking the stores because they get shipments everyday.

First option: Check apple.com every day to see if there is any available for in-store pick up. Apple does receive shipment daily and they will update stock inventory once they receive shipment. So you might be in luck between now to 11/6/2020.

If you purchased via apple.com, you can simply go to your order and initiate a return request and it will give you an additional 14 days for apple to receive it.

Second option: Not ideal but if you know that's an issue and you absolutely need a working phone, get the cheaper iPhone and when the model you want is available then return that one.

So essentially you get 28 days to return it? 2 weeks to initiate the online return, and another 14 to send it back?

Yes your additional 14 days starts when you start the return process. If you do it today, then 14 days starts from today. If you do it tomorrow 14 day starts from tomorrow. So those who pre-ordered and received it, have till 11/6/2020 to initiate the return. Once past that date, the start the return button is gone and you can no longer return it.

You could always email tcook@apple.com

That would get Executive Relations involved. They do things most Apple reps cannot....or will not.
This can actually be a good idea, as long as you word your email in an appropriate, civilized manner and not in a rant, explaining how you've been a long time Apple customer. Remember OP, you catch more flies with hiney.... HaHaHa, auto-correct... left it that way LOL...

Right, and then Apple must receive it within 14 days of initiating that?

Yes, they must receive it by the last day it tells you to. So if 11/5/2020 you request it. Apple needs to receive it by 11/19/2020.
Thank you, that's helpful. I'm getting the 12 this week, to compare with my 12 pro. And I'm going to preorder the Mini too.

Your phone is under warranty though... there’s no way they can tell you to just kick rocks.

Call them back on day 15 of ownership. Then you’re out of return policy and you can keep the somewhat faulty phone until your replacement arrives.

Much less wasteful than buying another brand new phone to use for 2 weeks as others suggest.

OP if I was in your position I'd just return your faulty phone to Apple for a full refund and buy an SE to keep you going. Keep an eye on stock in-store and reserve a new 12 Pro and return the SE within the 14 days when you pick up the new 12 Pro.

As you use your phone for work it's pretty vital that it works properly.

It's not really wasteful when Apple will just re-process the phone though the system and likely use it as a service unit.

Employment woes notwithstanding, I can already envision the short film I would make about your phone-less week; the initial restlessness and fidgeting, giving way to scenes of you going for a walk, appreciating the beauty of the world around you, making meaningful socially-distanced small talk with a neighbour on a park bench, saving an absent-minded text-walking teenager from being hit by a car... it writes itself.

And I would film it all on my iPhone 12 Pro. ?
