I guess since I am the only yes so far, that I should explain.

I am still using my original 8G iPhone. All Apps on iPhone are updated and in sync with iTunes. Even the Apps that I do not have on my iPhone are current.

If I hit check for updates on iPhone it tells me there are none and all are current. If I do the same in iTunes, it also says the same...all are current.

I am running 7.7.1 iTunes
iPhone is 1st Generation on 2.0

Now if I can just get some of them fully operational!

iTunes is pretty spastic about updates. Sometimes it'll even try to reupdate an app that is has updated before.

The updating was tolerable in 7.7.0 with only the "update all" button not working. But 7.7.1 totally broke it and now itunes tells you how many updates are available in the badge on the left menu, but then serves up all the apps you have on the update screen.

Oh, God, where do I begin?

The apps listed for updates in iTunes and the phone are always completely different, and using either to actually do an update doesn't work at all! I usually have to delete a program from the phone *and* iTunes and download it over again to get an update. And even then it doesn't always work.

I can't imagine what would happen if my hard drive were to die so that I couldn't delete my apps with iTunes anymore.. It would be either reformat my phone or stick with old app versions!

Um, why would you need to reformat? Does deleting the app from the iPhone and redownloading the new version not work?

And btw, so far, I've had no problems updating to a new version from my Touch. So what I've been doing is to delete the old version from my iTunes, update to the new version on my Touch, then transfer the app to iTunes so I have a backup copy of it. This also avoids the problem of ending up with multiple versions of an app on my hard drive.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I have no problems with iTunes and my iPhone. Everything syncs correctly and backups only take a few seconds.

I'm running Tiger with iTunes 7.7.1

I haven't updated lately because my apps are all behaving, and I don't want to risk it automatically removing my Box Office app or anything.

I kind of doubt that Apple would start deleting apps from our devices without permission, but in case they do, I've been making backup copies of all the apps I have that I've heard have been removed from the app store. Simply go to the "Mobile Applications" folder inside your "iTunes" folder, find the ipa file for the app you want to backup, and copy it somewhere else on your hard drive or other storage. Then if you ever need them back, just drag the ipa file into iTunes.

They have never been for me, and the most awkward part about it is that the one that says that an update is available is always correct, even right after I download. I just don't get it.

Mine is doing the same

I'm either getting all my apps for update or three of one that doesn't have an update. It is downloading things multiple times to my computer so i don't know what is what. It's messing up my syncing because i tried deleting extra downloads. And it is taking them off the sync list. It's confusing. And to top that off the 2.0 software crashes a lot especially while trying to sync.

Mine shows the same apps multiple times with exact same version numbers.
There are two of each app icon shown, except Aurora Feint which is shown three times.

Until Apple fix this mess I won't be using the update feature.
