Anyone else have an issue with 2017 Macbook Pro backlight not working? Apple will repair the 2016 Macbook with the same issue but not enough people have said there's an issue with the 2017. $1200+ to fix?!

I don't think it's worth spending 1200 on a 5-year-old machine, especially one that has the butterfly keyboard (that could easily fail next, and that's a 750 repair, minimum).

Put the 1200 towards a new (or Apple-refurbished) MacBook Pro 14" or 16".
Better use of the money...

I guess there were lots of lemons in that group. Apple replaced my keyboard early on. And now this failure. Agree, put the $ toward a new machine.

Ouch. That's a painful failure.

That same $1,200 would put you into a base model M2 MacBook Air, so you're much better off replacing the computer if you can afford to or you can resign yourself to using it as a desktop computer utilizing an external monitor.
