Okay, so my friend broke his 8 GB iPhone 3G by dropping it. He gave it to me and told me,"Do whatever you want with it". It turns on, and the screen comes on, but the screen is all white with black lines throughout one fifth of the screen.

What is wrong with it? Could it just be a screen issue? How do I troubleshoot it?

Sounds like it needs a screen replacement.

Where is a good place to buy it? And if I buy the screen, replace it, and it turns out it's something more.... can I package up the screen and return it?

1. Buy new screen
2. Unlock SIM lock
3. Put in T-Mobile SIM
4. ????????
5. Profit.

Seriously though lucky. If a new screen cost too much just go online and buy another broken iPhone that has another issue and use that screen.

I forgot to mention that there is also a crack in the screen, so if I just got the replacement LCD, not including the touch panel and frame, would that work? Would that fix the glass?

So this is for sure a screen problem and would just take 120 dollars to replace? What if it ends up being something more?
