Broken IR cable late 2014. Do I need it?

I just upgraded my late 2014 mini from its original 1tb hard drive to an SSD. I watched the videos on how to do it and it was actually pretty easy. The mini now acts like a brand new machine! Much, much faster. However, I did manage to break the IR clip so now I have no IR and no power indicator light on the front. Neither is a big deal to me. Could care less about the light and I've never even used the IR. So my question is just this, is this all that cable controls? Just the IR and the light? If so, I'm not going to worry about it.. But I just wanted to confirm this.

It is only there for the Apple Remote. So you're fine.
