Something got under the Caps Lock key and I pulled of the key to clean it but accidentally broke of one of the hooks on the key. If I take it to the Apple Store, will there be a replacement right away? Or will the have to order it? And if anyone knows how much it would cost that would be nice too (I don't have Apple Care).

Larger stores generally have old keyboards laying around and can pop off the key you need and send you on your way in a few minutes free of charge. You of course need to make a Genius Bar appointment, which can be a gigantic pain in the butt.

Smaller stores often don't have the extras laying around and will have to order a part for you. I've been told that they have to replace the whole keyboard, which runs about $150. Yes, it's ridiculous.

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention. It's my MacBook Pro Keyboard:eek:

edit: sorry, just re-read your last sentance
