Brought my 27" i5 imac in to my local Apple Store to get the yellow tinge LCD replaced and they crunched the logic board in the process. They don't have another one in stock so they have to order one which will take 2-3 days. Arg!!!!

that sucks... I'm probably going to take mine in tomorrow... I'm gonna try to convince them to upgrade mine to an i7... we will see how it goes!

I'd settle for like a RAM upgrade or external USB drive or something.

I get ya dude, but it's not major in terms of them doing right by ordering you a new computer. Is it really necessary to extort product upgrades from Apple? Everybody makes mistakes. A few days for a new replacement doesn't warrant getting free ram or a USB drive. Would you want your job to deduct your paycheck every time you made a mistake? Just saying.

Welcome to America. What can I get for free and damn the consequences? The work deduction is a great analogy.

I'm American by the way. I just happen to live in Japan.

Wouldn't they simply be saying NO to extortions?

People get these ideas of getting free ram or upgraded cpu's from reading the forums. I've noticed some users talking about how they were upgraded to an i7 or received $300 in refund bonuses.

I don't think one can just call Apple and be like "Hey, my computer has *, I think I'm entitled to 2 sticks of RAM or an upgrade!!

I don't expect anything free...I was just saying it would be cool if they threw in another 4 gig of RAM for my troubles. They originally told me the replacement would take about 1-2 hours, now it is likely I'll be without my computer through the weekend.

I understand people make mistakes, I make them all the time.

Ya. I brought mine into the apple store yesterday. they just switched out my computer and gave me a new one instead of replacing the screen. no i7, but hey, the i5 is more than enough! that sucks they screwed up your logic board. they did the same to me with my ibook 4 years ago... I wish they did more. they almost tried to charge me at 1st. it's alright man! it's only a weekend! it's an excuse to go outside...

Well, I didn't mean anyone in this thread specifically. I just meant in general it seemed to me be the recent trend so sorry if you thought I was being accusatory.

I do know how much of a hassle it is to be without one's computer. While I have not yet had any problems with my i7 I had to send my last 24" iMac in to Apple on several occasions and it was indeed a drag for the several days I was Mac-less.

You'd think they'd take more care...

I was worried about this fault when I bought my new 21.5".

Luckily however it seems fine.

Can somebody please tell me how I can place a poster on ignore? I'm not sure what SaSaSushi's agenda is, but I'm very tired of reading his posts every other post on this subject.

Wow, I'm honored. :)

Incidentally, you could have discretely PMed a moderator for this information rather than made a public remark like this.

I have no agenda. Personally, although there are several users in these forums whose posts I generally find distasteful I don't bother with ignore lists since if anyone else quotes them I would end up reading their posts anyway.

Have a nice day. :)

So I got a call from Apple today and they said there was something else wrong with the machine I brought in last week and that they would just give me a new one. I'm doing a Time Machine restore now, I'll post the week number and if the yellow tinge issue is present after the restore is complete.
