Nice link macdon401. I would have liked a bit more on the different rendering speeds though. Plus, I don't think they were hard enough on Firefox, especially with respect to its interface and its ability to chow down RAM.

It really peeves me that they "reviewed" Camino 0.84, and not the latest version (1.0a1). The two versions are a world apart. The rest of the article wasn't really informative, and really left out some of the cooler browsers out there, in particular, Shiira.

The article is several months old, so it's understandable.

0.84 is the latest "Stable" version, that's likely why they tested it. They didn't test the FF 1.5 beta either, and it's much better than 1.0.x

Ummm.. You believe that magazine articles are written the day they are released??

No, and I'm not faulting the editor/author of the article either, because they did put a note in about Opera being free now, but the article is not several months old. It obviously takes time for magazine articles to go to press, but not several months, especially in the computer industry where a lot changes in 3 or 4 months.

By my calendar, September 22, 2005 was only two days ago, not several months.

By my Mac World subscription, the article was published almost a year ago. They just edited it on 9-22 to reflect Opera being free. Here's a link to the original aticle: Mac World November 2004

1. OmniWeb
2. Safari
3. Camino
4. Shiira
5. Firefox
6. Opera
7. Netscape
8. IE

That is the definitive list...

Argh, what is so great about Firefox on the Mac? I don't see the appeal in extensions - great features should be built-in, not bolted on. The interface sucks and will always be sub-par. The author was much too generous to Firefox.

FireFox
Safari
Opera
Camino
NetScape(like the AIM built in)
(IE is not allows on my list :p ) and i have never used the others

I think Firefox is the best browser available on any platform. (Mac, Windows and Linux) Also 1.5 is shaping up to be a huge improvment over 1.0.x series with much better OSx support.

The new Alpha of Camino is much better than the stable version.

Never liked Safari or Opera.

That's a completely different article. The one you linked to doesn't even include Safari, while the one at the top of the thread includes Safari 2.0 and Opera 8 and Firefox 1.0.6 (none which were available in 2004).
