Browser problems

Previously, when I opened a link for a news article, etc., I saw a summary of the article without advertising or related pics. If I double tapped the page, then it would open the original article with pics etc. Now, it won't open. I did not change any functions. What do I need to change, ( I have a Macbook Pro)? The attachment below is what I often see, but I often don't see a pic. But when I tap the pic, I can't see the original article. What changed?

What happens if you click outside the summary area ?.

I can't say what changed. I rarely use the Reader feature & thought it always worked by clicking outside; on the Reader button; or using esc key.
