Browsing photos in OS X 10.4.3

Hi,

I've got a question/problem.

Is their anyway you can browse photos in OS X 10.4.3 with your right, left directional buttons? I know you can do it in iPhoto but iPhoto recgonized and imported my photos into one big mass instead of a folder/tree view.

Back on Windows XP, you could just go to a folder...double click your picture...and see a preview of it and just hit <-- or --> and browse through the pictures in that particular folder. Or, you could hit the slideshow button, the photo would come up on a black screen and control that at your own will.

I love my Mac but that's one thing I really miss about Windows. Is there a picture viewer out there that can do this similar to the way Windows handles photo browsing?

Open a finder window, highlight the drive where the pics are stored, use the < > directional arrow keys to navigate to the folder and the up/down keys to go thru the pics, they will display to the right in a seperate pane......

Another way to do it is to highlight all the photos you want to browse, and open them in Preview.

You should get one Preview window with all the photos open in the drawer at the side. Then you can scroll through them with the arrow keys.

Granted, there is a little extra step here, but I find this method useful

I use this approach when I'm searching for something or want to do a quick preview of photos I've just downloaded.

Curious if there's a method to display the filename quickly with this approach... (vs. using another app, etc.).

To select the pics for the slideshow is cmd+left click on a 2 button mouse .. then control + click to slideshow

Only tangentially related ... you should view your "roll" names in iPhoto, which should be labeled as you had the folders that you imported labeled. In other words, your imported directory structure should be preserved in the roll names in iPhoto.
