Budget mini-DP/TB1 to dual link DVI adapter?

I just upgraded my monitor to a used Dell 30" Ultrasharp that runs at 1600p. The thing looks gorgeous when connected to my PC. However, as it is rather old, it only has a dual-link DVI connector.

I want to hook this thing up to my 13" 2012 Retina MBP. Apple wants US$100 for a mini-DisplayPort to dual link DVI adapter, which sounds like crazy money to me. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced alternative?

The situation really has not changed since you asked about dual-link adapters 6 months ago.
They are not cheap, because they are not a passive (non-powered) device, and need external power to function, along with properly designed circuitry. They are just not economy models.
However, here's a Monoprice adapter that should give you dual-link DVI.

I'm used to negative reviews on the Apple store, but all the one star reviews on Amazon surprised me. Are these adapters (Apple or 3rd party) really that trouble prone?

Sigh. I may have to downgrade to a 24" Planar monitor I had decommissioned. It has an HDMI input, which I know will work reliably with this Macbook.
