I upgraded my iPhone 12 PM to iOS 17 today. Everything was fine until I turned my phone off and on about 4 hours later. After that any time I use my phone‘s location it says I’ve left home and all my leaving home automations kick in. If I power the phone off and on, it will say I’m back home for about 30 seconds and then say I’ve left.

if I switch find my to my iPad it says I’m home, but if I switch back to my iphone it says I’ve left again. I’ve rarely seen this issue before, but rebooting always fixed it. Now nothing does

Any idea how to solve this?

edit:

I went into the location privacy system settings and toggled HomeKit off and on and that seemed to fix It for now. I haven’t tried restarting again. I also toggled “find my” and “share location” off and on. I’m hoping location based automations aren’t broken in iOS 17 as I use those a lot.

Edit 2:

I walked about a block away from my home and it went to “away” and went back to “home” when I got close to my house, so at least that’s working. If I have to toggle HomeKit location off and on after every phone restart to get it to work though, that will be annoying.

Same thing happened when I restarted the phone this morning. Within a minute it said I left home. I had to toggle location permission for HomeKit to get it to recognize I was still home.

I contacted Apple and they had me do what I probably should have done in the first place which is restart all my Home hubs.

After that when I restarted my iPhone it didn’t say I left home, so that appears to have fixed it.
