I’ve on two occasions noticed a discrepancy in the screen brightness levels, please find attached. The quick pull down shows it being Max brightness which it isn’t.

Just to clarify. The actual brightness intensity doesn’t change. It just indicates a false Max brightness on the menu bar pull down. Auto brightness is also disabled.

My brightness is shown correctly in both views (M1 MBA) but it can change to full or almost full after a reboot.
Likewise, I don't have the brightness differences in sliders but do have the fluctuating brightness after reboot.

This is the only Mac I've ever owned that even with all the auto display stuff turned off I can't set and forget the brightness level. I set my M1 MBP to 50% and at next reboot it may still be 50% or it could have increased to 70-80% for no reason.

Thought I was alone as not seen any other reports of this until your post.
