So this is really weird.
My iPhone 12 Pro Max sometimes call two numbers at the same time. Yes, at the same time.
Just today, I called a friend. He answered and we started talking, and 30 seconds into the call I heard a voice mail kick in while my friend was still talking. My phone had called another number at the same time as my friends number.
This has happened multiple times. There's no clear pattern. Sometimes the "second" call goes to the last person I called before the current. Sometimes not. But only ever people on my call history, even though it's been both saved contacts and un-saved numbers.
The "second" call / wrong call doesn't show up in my log. I called my service provider and they never heard of it before. They tried sending me a new sim, as my previous one was 7 or 8 years old. But the problem persists.
I don't use dual sim. I've tried with 5g both on and off, wifi calling on and off, I've tried resetting network settings - nothing helps...
So. Have any of you ever tried this?
My last effort - before having to send in my phone to get checked - is reset my phone and set it up as new. But I really wouldn't want to do that...

Was the call that went to voicemail treated as a merged call? Like, does your phone call screen show that you are on another call (not the call history, the actual screen when you’re on a call where you can change it to speakerphone).

No, the call screen shows nothing 'out of the ordinary'. I couldn't hang up the unintended call (without hanging up the intended call too, that is).

My service provider (YouSee in Denmark) asked, if I might have accidentally made a conference call, but this isn't the issue at all. This has happened both with calls initiated with Siri, calls places using the infotainmentcenter in my car and regular calls started from the phone itself. So I feel pretty safe in saying, that it is not a mistake or fat fingers :-D

Do you see the calls in the service provider's call log? You can usually check on their website or their app and you can see exactly what calls you placed. Do you see the 2 calls there?

Hey!
It's really lame answering your questions here more than two weeks later, I know, but haven't been on here (was sick for a week and then swamped at work...).
But yes, both the intended call and the ghost call shows up on the providers call log.

I've been in contact with both my service provider and Apple Support about this problem. It is, however, still ongoing. I'm actually waiting for a call from Apple Support, who sent me an email last night that they would like to place a call today (only more than a week later than they first said, but hey, it's a crazy world :-D).

Both the entry level and senior technical advisor at Apple was baffled by my phone's behaviour, so they had to collect som log-files and let their engineers look them over. Guess it took quite a while longer than expected.

If they can't come up with a solution - and I can't really see what that would be, since I've tried everything by this time - I guess I've got to turn it in for a replacement.

Actually not that time consuming, less than you’ve invested.
Did this begin when you first bought and setup iPhone?
What method did you use to restore?
Setting up as new and not restore — for long enough to know if the problem resurfaces.

I've had the exact same issue with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I am running a dual sim, one esim and one physical.

Have you been able to find a fix to this issue?
