macOS building project in symantec C++ on Mac OS 9.2

Hello All,
On my macmini machine I have Mac OS 10.4.11 and Mac OS 9.2.
For installing symentec C++ version 8.0 on my machine I copied the "Symantec C++ for Power Mac" folder to Macintosh HD/Applications (Mac OS 9) folder.

The error I get are :
When I open any sample program and Go to Project->Option I get the following error :
Couldn't complete the last command because of the Mac OS Error.
Result code = 109
And when I do Build->Build Application . and run that application it just get splashed and then closed automatically without showing any window.

I am new for symatec C++ , Please tell me what are the extra task I need to do for building project in symantec C++.
Or
are the Steps for installing symantec C++ correct ?

I would recommend leaving Symantec alone. Mac OS 9.2 is currently unsupported. Use Xcode on your OS X installation. You will not learn anything useful developing for 9.2.

WOW thats a ridiculous statement... as long as you are doing non-GUI work, you will learn just the same. If you are doing GUI work you will learn at least a little bit about how things work, even if it won't be so reusable.

I recommend starting in OS X, too. It's because of one app, and it's not XCode, it's Terminal.app. OS 9 lacks a terminal, and I can't imagine developing without one. If you were to want to learn an IDE, i'd say eclipse might be best because it is cross-platform. If I had to choose between symantec and XCode, XCode would win, only because it's supported and easy to get help with. Whatever you choose, start coding. If an IDE is giving you trouble, ditch it. You want to learn how to program, not master one IDE.

If you are going to program under OS 9 use Macintosh Programmers Workshop. It was Apples free IDE for OS 9 and earlier.

Search for MPW on the Apple website.

Thanks for replay.
The project is already build using symantec C++ an THINCK C on Mac OS 9.2.
(For Mac OS X 10 I am using Xcode for building the project, which is working fine.)
Now I have to do some updates in the project for Mac OS 9.2 and below.
So I can not stop using symantec C++ .

I am also using THINCK C for building some project related dll . which I am able to build successfully .
I think I have not installed symantec C++ properly.I am using symantec C++ version 8.
And my project contains GUI like menubar and text window.

Are you installing Symantec from the original media? Is there an installer or a read me that has to do with installation? Look around for one.

Some classic apps would want you to install components in the Extensions folder or the System folder, so maybe that's what is missing.

Threw the old CD in:

I'm getting a 109 error message too running the app in OS 9.2 in Classic mode within 10.4.11.
109 unexpected filemark

And using Build>Build Application I'm getting an error window within the program.

Error: different configuration for precompiled header

This is just a sample as I haven't run this in years.

Could it be that it won't run right in Classic mode, just in native 8.0 or 9.0? Some software doesn't.

Thanks for stating my post is ridiculous.

Since he/she has Tiger installed, why not develop there? Why mess up with OS 9.2 specific problems since it's abandoned? And what happens after C++? Won't he/she be forced to learn a new IDE if he/she decides to work with GUIs?

EDIT: I now saw the replies which indicates the need to develop with Symantec.

Thanks or reply. Our product was initially build in Mac OS 8 then we start supporting the next versions of Mac till Mac OS 10.5 . We still have customer who are using Mac OS 9.2 and below.So for building project in Mac OS 9.2 we used symatec C++ version 8. Our project is working fine on Mac OS 9.2 But now I have given a task to do some modifications in the project. This is very argent customer requirement.
I am using the original CD of Symantec C++ version 8.0 .
Read Me file says that :
Drag the "Symantec C++ for Power Macintosh" folder to the hard disk.
It contains "Alternate Installation" folder
And Installing addintional Tool information . I did steps as they are saying.
THINCK C projects are working fine.
But symantec C ++ project are not working properly.
If I need to do some header file path setup I am not able to do any project settings.
