its here, unpacked and i have installed messenger, as i have a lot of rellies around the world that already use the program for communication,

so , the messenger works fine for the type written communication, but how do i enable the internal camera on my 24" iMac for vid conferencing within messenger?

all help appreciated

BB:)

Use a better application for messaging that supports the mac better. I would suggest Adium.

but i presume that wont allow me to use my messenger identity , or see my my families idents online???

newbie ( 7 days now ) iMac user, its all new to me

BB:confused:

Adium is awesome for text (lets you use your own account with your contact list kept)

However for video I use Mercury, and some use aMSN :)

The next Microsoft Messenger:Mac will have webcam support.

Adium does not support audio or video chat. It's text only.

Use Skype instead. It supports video chatting with Mac and PC users. Forget
those Yahoo, aMSN or Mercury things, they are almost unusable, slow, buggy
and do not support essential functions (such as audio AND video chat at the
same time).

Skype is the answer.

hey brake, yahoo works just dandy. when I get home, I'll write more at work now and on a windows machine. you might have to go into prefs and you'll see the video tab, I would suggest getting iglasses, it's a great program for adjusting the isight. to turn your webcam on, on the bottom of the window, you should see the vid icon, jusy click on it and your vid window should pop up. again, install iglasses and pay the 8 bucks so u can get the updated version and all updates free. it really does make adjusting the isight a breeze.

yea true that. Why does iChat support Yahoo, Aim, and Mac when 99% of my non american friends use MSN.
