I purchased a 20' iMac last December, and recently it shut down and wouldn't boot up, so I took it in to the local Mac certified store for repair. They said it was the power supply, and fixed the non-booting issue. Then my built-in mic wouldn't work at all, so I took it back to the store. We found out that the cable wasn't properly plugged back in. They plugged it back in, and I thought all will be well.

However, when I get on Ventrillo and try to talk with my friends they say that I don't sound the same. I sound like I am under water or "in a tin can". I changed the sound settings on both Mac and Vent, but it still sounds bad. It almost sounds like the background noise is louder than my voice. Also, when I run Vent, the welcome sound has a lot of static noise in it and it booms, kind of like listening to a car stereo with subwoofers, playing loud music.

The Mac tech person won't be in until Monday, and I am really at a loss. If anyone has had a similar issue after repairing their iMac, please let me know how you have resolved it. Thanks!
