builtin iSight quality?

Ive got this camera built in to my new iMac. However, the picture quality appears to be less than stunning to me. Anyone know the specs on this thing? Anyone know what megapixel for example? Is the stand-alone iSight drastically better?

The quality depends heavily on whether or not the area is well-lit.

i use the one on my macbook a fair amount. If there is lots of light, it is really good considering its size. No light, like Pressure said, makes it look really bad.

Yep, the amount of light does play a crucial role for me as well on my MacBook Pro. In poorly lighted environments, the picture quality is so so. But when I take a picture in an environment with proper lighting, the picture quality is quite good.

It`s vga resolution. 640x480. ie 0.3 megapixel.
