Bulb mode on Olympus E-420

Im trying to get the bulb to work in the 30min mode but it wont stay open for more than 1sec. Does enyone know what im doing wrong?

Are you using the remote, or are you just pressing the shutter?

I have the E-520 and it works on bulb for as long as I hold down the button. Can you explain what you're doing? We need a bit more detail so we can help...

Could it be something to do with your bulb timer setting
On my E-520 you can set it by
menu>spanner 1>spanner E>Bulb Timer
