Hi

Does anyone know of any good alternatives for getting an iPad shipped to the UK.

Bundlebox have just posted up to there blog that they have reached there limit and have stopped working through the pre-orders list.

Thanks,

Craig

Someone did post on the original thread that they had purchased using a UK Credit or Debit card and the postal address set to their Bundlebox address - maybe worth a try? Then you just need to pay Bundlebox to forward. Or Google 'freight forwarding' and see if you can find any similar services?

Me, I'm hanging on until the day I can walk into the Apple Store in Glasgow and pick one up in person.

Yeah think I might give that I go. Tried my Debit card just now and it failed to authorise the transaction. Not sure if its at Apples end or if my bank has blocked it as suspicious.

Just clearing the balance off my credit card now as I only have a small limit then I will give that a go.

Success. It was just Lloyds TSB being cautious and blocking the transaction. Phoned them up, told them it was me and its let me put the order through this time.

I'm a little confused now. So Bundlebox are still taking pre-orders after all yes? I must admit, I've been very tempted myself. I'm wondering whether to hold out a little longer and see if Amazon.com have them as they also have a shipping arrangement. Do you mind me asking what the total Sterling price was door to door delivery? And might you have to pay more tax on arrival? Thanks.

They are not taking pre-orders like they were before using the Buy it for you service. Where you pay them the money for the iPad and they buy it for you and have it shipped to them and they ship it on to you.

You can still place an order yourself directly from your bank account to apple and get it shipped to bundlebox who will then contact you when it reaches them and arrange for it to be shipped on. Apple are meant to require a US Credit/Debit card to order from the US store but it seems some UK cards are working you just have to try.

The 32GB iPad has cost me £420 from Apple then when it reaches Bundlebox I will have to pay them £130 to have it shipped over to the UK but this includes the VAT that is payable (they have confirmation from revenue and customs that duty won't need to be paid just VAT) and the shipping costs.

OK, thanks very much, that's helpful. That is more than I was expecting so you may have just helped me make the decision.

Just managed to use my Smile bank Visa Debit card after first failing to get it to Authorize Apple payment.

Contacted smile Bank who said payment was declined because they thought it was fraudulent. They said to resubmit order and it would be accepted which it has been.
Order confirmed by Apple and order due to be delivered to my Bundle Box address for Saturday 3rd April.
UK delivery should be mid week 7th April. :)

Thankfully, I don't have the free time to take a trip to the US, or I'd be SORELY tempted. Likelihood of me cracking and getting an iPad sent to my Bundlebox before April 3rd? I'd say about 50/50 at this stage. ;)

Lucky for me I will actually be on holiday then and so I'll have a distraction, when I say distraction, I mean my girlfriend telling me to stop going on about that stupid iPad! But I am still so so tempted, especially since I've realised my pay cheque came in today... :( Ah well, I know I will regret it if I end up paying more than I need to. *prays for a ridiculously high price announcement from Apple so I can justify ordering one today*

I've got to stop reading this thread. It is too tempting.

Praying for UK prices and dates soon !!

We need a support group I reckon, where we get all the iPad news we need such as "The iPad isn't actually all that good anyway, but will be in late April" and where we can focus on the reasons why we are holding out, such as the satisfaction of having waited and then picking it up ourselves (at a preferably cheaper price). Plus LaNex we can still download some iPad apps from the US store at least.

So this thread should be renamed the official iPad UK users delay support group. Must be strong. If I wait and save myself the expected £100, then I can blow that on cool accessories. And I will have been paid again before I have to shell out.

Just a hint of a UK price and official launch date would keep me going.........

I think I've got to stop reading this forum, in all honesty!

The lack of information regarding the UK launch and pricing is quite literally driving me insane. I have a mental barrier on all the models regarding what I'm happy to pay for each step up, but until we get any pricing my buying decision is in limbo.

Just give us a price, Apple!

Bundlebox here it comes!

Well I finally cracked this afternoon and ordered a 64GB iPad for delivery to Bundlebox. As expected the credit card transaction failed to authourise but a quick follow up the bank and the transaction was duly cleared. I have to say I always thought that Apple and alike alway blocked orders from non-US credit cards. Maybe things have changed and they will take money now from anywhere.

Of course before 3rd April they could always scan their orders database and chuckout any non-US card payments!! We shall see what happens in due course.

I still expect to be ordering a 3G version in the UK when we finally get the go-ahead but I really could not sit by the 3rd April date and miss out on what I think will be a significant industry changing product. My lucky son will be getting the 'old' iPad!!

:):)

As part of my "therapy" (lol) whilst I wait I'm trying to focus on the fact that there will be lots of new info come the 3rd of April from across the pond, which will be good to know before getting the iPad. And of course, as you say Bentron, we can stock up on apps from the US store in advance.

The other two upsides of the US launch weekend for me is that Ashes to Ashes returns to the Beeb on friday the 2nd, and Doctor Who is back on the 3rd. I am taking my jollies where I can get them until I finally get an iPad. :) Whenever that might be and for however much. But ye gods, the wait for pricing info is getting on my norks to be quite honest.
