Tonight I was using my sister's Powerbook G4, and the strain reliver on the computer plug end of it's power cord has cracked over time (a few months), and a few days ago it cracked all the way around so that most of the strain reliever was free to slide on the cord. This also made the wires inside the white shell visible a little bit. No big deal I thought, just go to the Apple Store Tuesday and get it replaced. So I'm sitting there writing a thesis paper when I saw white smoke drifting in front of the screen. Smoke? thought I. After a second of confuzzlement, I realised what it was and basically ripped the cord from the computer. The plug was very hot and the rest of the strain reliever was slightly melted.
Bad deal.
So now I'm on hold with apple to get a new one.
Her cord had also started only wanting to charge in one position a couple of months ago.
