I've been having trouble burning a disk image (.dmg file) to a dvd. When I go into disk utility and select burn, it asks for a disk and seems to go through the entire process of writing/verifying with no problems, but the disk won't mount afterwords. Just looking at the back of the dvd, something seems to have been written to it, but it doesn't do me much good if I can't get to it. Any suggestions? I'm on a dual 2.0 g5 w/superdrive. CD burning seems to work fine.

Thanks,
ben

I'd like to know this as well... I've got a couple of programs in .dmg files that I'd like to put to use, but I don't know how... I know how to mount .iso files in Windows, but I'm new to Mac and don't know how...

You sure its a valid .dmg file that you are trying to burn - ie. Does it mount if you double click it? Also, you aren't trying to duplicate a movie this way I hope - commercial movies are encrypted and this method would fail.

You don't have to burn a .dmg to a disc, simply double click it and it should mount on the desktop and then you can drag the app to your Applications folder OR run the installer if it exists (usually ends with .pkg) from the mounted disc image.

The dmg does not mount when I double click it, so maybe that's the problem. I would have expected it to be valid since it's straight from Apple (it's a developer version of Tiger I got as an ADC memeber). Oh well, I guess I can try downloading all 2 gigs of it again.

Thanks.

No problem. Guess as a developer you know the saying "Garbage in, Garbage out" ;)
