I have an ibook g4, with a combo drive and os x. thought i'd make life simpler by transferring my audio cds into mp3 dvds, but itunes had different ideas.
I plugged in a usb 2 external dvd writer; itunes refused to recognise it, preferring only my combo drive. I then transferred files to toast, and burned the mp3 dvds from there.
Now itunes doesn't read those dvds.
I tried taking the itunes music folder and burning that, hoping it would read the playlist etc, but no such luck. neither does it read the disks with mp3 files (no folders).
While on the subject, itunes doesn't read other mp3 discs which aren't written by it (you have to import the files manually); it also doesn't have folder support (it creates folders on its own, but doesn't read music folders created by other apps).
Audion crashes when asked to create a playlist of a whole mp3 dvd (roughly 570 songs).
Have tried the dvds on pcs; they are read by realplayer (am currently downloading it for the mac).
I'd obviously prefer using itunes, but can't figure these fixes out: get it to recognise an external dvd writer; burn an mp3 dvd; read an mp3 dvd not burned by it; and if that's not asking for too much, also recognise folders created by other apps on mp3 cds.
PS: also, why is audion crashing? too much info to load? how can i get it to read the whole dvd without falling apart?
