burning discs

do i need a program to burn dvds/cds?

What do you want to burn on them? Data, audio to play in a CD player, an actual DVD type movie with menus and such?

For the most part... all of these programs are provided to you with any Mac.

iTunes - audio cd
iDVD - DVD movie with menus
data - just drag the data to a blank disc and then drag the disc to the trash can icon (which will change to a burn icon)
