Burning DVD+R DL stops at 50%

This is my first time trying to burn a Double Layer DVD.

I'm trying to burn a 7.9Gig toast image file onto a DVD+R DL using Toast 8. The burn proceeds to 50% and than I get a message "Sense Key = Medium Error, sense Code = 0x02, No Seek complete"

It seems to me that error is happening when the drive is switching to the 2nd layer to continue the burn.

I'm using HP DVD+R 2.4X Double Layer disks.

Any Ideas?
