burning MP3s to CD from iPod through iTunes?

I found one program that allows you to burn MP3s from the iPod to CD through iTunes but the version of Tast I have conflicts with it, not to mention the fact that the program is written in German. Oops.

Anyone have an easy way to do this? Freakin' copyright protection. Most of my MP3s are totally legal anyway!!

if your MP3s are legal then they should have originated from iTunes in the first place so you wouldn't need to ask this question.

I'll give you benefit of the doubt and suggest that your MP3s came from iTunes on another computer (that you own) that doesn't have a CD burner. In that case, go to versiontracker and get one of the several utilities that will sync your iPod library to iTunes on another computer then burn from iTunes.

Well thanks for your kindness here, but I usually delete ripped MP3s to save hard drive space on my Powerbook, so while they did originate from iTunes, they're not there now.

Considering how many people come through here asking to do things like this and copy DVD Videos, those of us who play by the rules will make little remarks here and there.

I'm all for being able to make legal copies of things one buys for their own use. COmpilation CDs for instance. For use on an mp3 player like the iPod.

What I don't like is people asking where they can download illegal copies of sftware and such.

I think it is only for classic (OS 9), but use Funk Monkey to recover the files on your iPod, then open them in iTunes, and burn the CD. There ya go. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/3991 is where Funk Monkey lives.

Before I give a solution, Shapiro, let me address two things:

(1) You do realize that burning mp3s onto an Audio CD will not put very high quality music on the CD, because you are expanding mp3s.

(2) You will not receive much help in the future from people you address inapporpriately.

This is basically a two step process:

(1) Grab this program:

Read through the directions and copy the songs from your iPod to your desktop using the program. If you want to burn through Toast, there is no need for iTunes to rediscover the files.

(2) Grab your CD burning app (iTunes, Toast) and burn the songs as you would normally.
