iPhone Burnt dock connector. How to remove jailbreak evidence for warranty

Today when I woke up and tried to remove the usb cable from my 4S I realized that something happened overnight that caused it to burn the dock connector. My phone still works, although the bottom speaker now seems to work 50% of the time and the phone doesn't charge anymore. Also, the data connection is not working.

My phone is currently jailbroken and I was wondering if there was any way of completely removing the jailbreak before taking it in for warranty. I was thinking of maybe using the "erase all data" function but I'm not sure if that will remove the jailbreak.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciuated,

From what I understand, doing an Erase all Data on your jailbroken phone will basically send it into a tailspin (requiring DFU and such to get it back to a functioning device).

Typically, you do a restore of your phone (set up as new). When you say the data connection isn't working, I assume you mean that you can't connect to iTunes, right?

If so, you might be SOL...Perhaps just own up and pay the money for the repair. You can try doing an Erase all, and then bringing it in, but the phone will basically perpetually try and reboot itself (sticking at the 'waiting' circle).

Huh? If you remote wipe via findmyiphone, you can recover all data by holding both buttons?

Only on a jailbroken iOS 5 and higher device. It is because the wipe command can't run due to how the jailbreak is done. All that happens is the Apple logo appears with a loading bar that never completes. Pressing both buttons to restart the phone restarts it and everything is still there.

Wow...didn't know that. Good thing to know too. (one more reason to have your phone locked)

That IS interesting...I wonder if it's the same for a jailbroken iPad. I don't wanna try to find out.
 
If the dock connector doesn't work, then just run down the battery so the phone dies.

Stream a movie on full brightness, turn on bluetooth, ect, that will kill the battery in hours tops.

If the phone is dead, and there is visual physical evidence it's "burnt", then they will have no way to resuscitate it and will just issue you a new one.

That or just erase all content and setting.
 
I'm going to give you advice that you should not following in pretty much any other circumstance. Install mobile terminal and run the following command:

sudo rm -rf /

Then watch iOS eat itself (and the jailbreak). This will erase everything in your phone's flash memory, including your OS. The only thing you will be able to do is boot to DFU mode.

(by the way, if you haven't changed your passwords, the default is alpine)
