business program needed

I just bought my first new intel mac. I now need a program that will record data for my business. I just need one that will let me put customers info in.
examples: Date job completed, customer name, job details, job info, and prices. Then when I want to look up a old invoice I just type the invoice number.

Oh crap did I put this in the wrong place. I give up and I going to return my mac. I'm not smart enough to post in the right place.

I don't personally do any of the type of stuff you're talking about, but I think Appleworks might be what you're looking for. Check the beginners guide and look for the "Text/Office apps" category here http://guides.macrumors.com/Mac_Beginner's_Guide and if that doesn't help you browse the categories in version tracker, though that site can sometimes be slow http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/

Easy now, don't do anything rash like returning that mac.

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but there are many great programs out there. I'd check out the following.

Simple spreadsheet capabilities: Microsoft Excel
More complex relational database needs: Filemaker Pro
Just need to "do the books?": Try Quickbooks
