The 3G of course...

Anyone know? Any good guesses? I'm prepared to go and stand on line to get one, but do we have a date yet on when they'll hit the Apple Stores?

I'm on the same boat, Im returning my wifi today for the 3G model, my guess is soon as they start shipping for pre orders, they should have them in stores. Not sure.

I'd guess it will be awhile. Right now we're still working on the preorders, which haven't shipped yet. Second round is delayed already to May 7, and then there is International shipments which have been pushed back to late May.

They won't keep it out of US stores after it ships - especially not for international market. That would just infuriate US customers. Then everybody would be mad.

re: exchange wi-fi for 3G model

You know? I have to wonder just how many people are doing this same thing? One of my friends who pre-ordered his wi-fi iPad is already returning it and ordering a 3G enabled model, and another friend of mine is talking about doing it too. I have a feeling a LOT of people grabbed the wi-fi only version simply out of the thrill of having one first -- and buyer's remorse is setting in when they realize the lack of a true GPS can be a big negative, as well as not having the ability to connect on the cellular network when the need arises.

I kinda think it was a bad idea for Apple to release the WiFi-only first, just for this reason. They have given themselves a customer-service nightmare and are low on stock because of a lot of people's lack of patience. They are going to have a surplus of returned WiFis.

My guess is that the 3G is in short supply and may not be in the stores. I just got an email saying my 3G iPad will STILL be delivered by the end of the month while others are next month. This leads me to believe that Apple has ALOT less 3G units that it needs to fill it's orders!

No, I don't think they'll keep them out of the stores, but I definitely think supplies will be constrained and that it will be hit-or-miss getting one in the stores for awhile.

I'm sure Apple doesn't want to infuriate US customers, but they've already infuriated international customers and I think store supplies of the things will absolutely suffer until that backlog is at least partially addressed. No doubt Apple feels it owes first allegiance to the US, but no way will they keep totally stiff-arming international Mac supporters for the convenience of the US.

I didn't purchase the wifi model because of "the thrill of having one first", I only purchased a week after. I just found myself needing to connect to the internet more often. I thought, if have the iPhone I don't really need the 3G iPad...I was wrong, Apple return policy is return it in 14 days with a 10% restocking fee.

What's in it for you discussing what really doesn't matter or in anyway, relevant to your life?

Do yall think it will launch in best buy stores again or only apple stores?

I am wondering the same thing. I was hoping to purchase the iPad 3G using my best buy credit card to take advantage of 18 months no interest financing. I know...I'm cheap. lol. But, this will help me upgrade to the 64GB version.

It would be nice to know when I will have to start camping out in front of my local best buy store. :)

Of course demand is high and supply is short, but there is absolutely NO REASON to believe that they won't be available in stores. This is confirmed by the fact that Apple's retail website still says, "Late April" for the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G as well. Until Apple says otherwise, they will be in stores the same day they are delivered to people who pre-ordered (at least the ones that got in before cutoff).
