Just watched the Apple Media event live (thanks Apple for not making me wait). Couple of things 1. if people missed the buttons on the shuffle dont you think they will now miss them on the nano. 2. On ping can the charts not be by most downloaded but by most played. 3. Why can you not buy from tv and have it download on the computer with the associated iTunes account. That is my only grief.

Probably, depends on the person :p :D Personally, I don't mind, I think a touchscreen is as good as physical buttons if it's done properly.

2. On ping can the charts not be by most downloaded but by most played.

We'll have to wait and see once the iTunes 10 download becomes available. Then you can try it for yourself! :D :)

Apple's secret reasons....I have no idea tbh! I guess they wanted to get rid of the syncing to maybe make it cheaper and to make it easier for the average consumer to use.

My idea has no syncing. So you want to by this movie from the apple tv you select buy it start streaming the movie in the morning you open itunes and assuming that both the apple tv and the itunes you are opening are associated with the same apple ID then the computer would automatically download the movies you bought last night account

yeah. that's what the older Apple TV did I think, but I'm not sure. Either way, the newest Apple TV doesn't have this, and Apple are unlikely to refresh it again until next year at least.

I don't think that all people would want a touch screen on an iPod if they intended to use it as an iPod. If you want a touch screen, get an iPod touch. I think that the touch screen and the small size wouldn't work for me as I would want it to take skiing and a touch screen doesn't work at all with gloves. I will be buying the shuffle with buttons and voiceover for my needs as I already have a shuffle.

meh.

i honestly don't get why it's so tricky to keep running or whatever and flick through the music on a touch screen....

and with the apple screen it's pretty great, not like its a resistive screen or anything, not much effort involved

I don't think they actually implemented that on the new nano. But, it is an excellent idea and I could see it on future versions (basically, I think the new nano is kinda like buying an apple first gen, it's the testing the waters one and the next iteration will probably have a bunch of improvements. Apple's first gen on stuff always seems lacking a lot ;) ).

I also suspect that they will probably bring video playing back but not the camera. Mainly cause I don't think it should be too hard to put that video playing function back in (and really not mess with size too much. The camera though would be harder to do without messing with size and I honestly don't think enough people will truly miss it) and with this many people bitching about it I think it will be one of their "improvements". I mean I am betting all it really needs is a software update to be able to play video.

I doubt they'll bring the clickwheel back in though (Apple does like touchscreens and they do seem to like to bring their big selling points to all their devices and while you see some griping about loss of clickwheel, you don't see as much as loss of video playing ability).

There is another button with the nano, reset.

I feel that that is exactly what apple is doing, seeing if people like the new idea, then adding extra stuff to it each time, personally im a sucker for the new shiny things that apple releases.

they had their 5 generations with the click wheel, the touch is now the iPod Hotcake, why not jump on the band wagon?
