iPad Buy 10.2 iPad now or wait for 'Budget iPad' according to rumours?

Looking to get an iPad as a Valentines gift.

Do I wait till March when apparently this new 'budget' iPad appears, or do I get the current 10.2" iPad? I thought the current 10.2" iPad was the budget model?

Last one was released just September 2021. Practically 0% chance of a spring 2022 refresh.

When I try to buy it on Apple's website, it shows the delivery date to be 6 weeks from now. This is either due to supply constraint or a refresh. But this model came out just a few months ago..

It’s been like that for a while. Apple diverted and prioritized components to iPhone as a result of chip shortage.

I ordered my Gen 9 Dec 15th of last year. Received it on Jan 21st.

Personally I don't believe the rumors voiced by MaxTech, but even if true it would be some minor stuff like 5G or magsafe, not worth waiting for

Awesome, enjoy it. My mom uses her iPad as her main computer. Doesn’t even own a computer anymore, put it away in storage a few years ago and never seen the light of day since. Recently upgraded her to the 9th gen for Christmas and she loves it

Apple files model numbers with agencies many months in advance. With the EEC, it’s about 6 months in advance. It’s no indication the new low cost iPad will be released soon.
