Hey folks! I just think Apple has made a "wonderful" timing for this promo.

Here's the deal:

The Buy a Mac, get a free ipod nano promo ends at Sep 16. If you buy a mac between Sep 10 - 16, then congratulations, you're eligible for the rebate.

And, if you accidentally bought a macbook pro between Sep 10 - 16, again, due to the shortage of macbook pro, Apple (very likely) shipped your macbook near or even after Oct 1st. So, you earned another $110 (you still have to pay $9.95, right?).

Is there anyone has the experience like this?

Yeah. I can go one better. Had my Powerbook stolen in August. Insured new for old. Took AGES for the insurance so couldn't order til Oct 3rd.

So I got a free nano (UK edu) and leopard for £5.95. Plus a much faster laptop for the £150 odd excess.

Clouds and silver linings come to mind.

I think you can only get it at the same time as your Mac.

Not sure though.

im pretty sure i got 3 years apple care free because im in higher education and apple care with edu discount is £150 normally as far as i know but i may be wrong

My MPB bought the 16th was shipped the 28th, just a few more days of delay and i would have got Leopard for 10$ :p

Hm, not sure of the conversion but I think I spent $240 instead of $250 on applecare due to the education discount. Unless the exchange rate has gone through the roof, sounds like I could have haggled for a better deal.
