thinking of getting airpods, but then i realized they have been out for more than a year. Are there any rumors for updated model anytime soon?

No rumours of any updates at this stage.

As per your question in the other thread, the microphone/s work very well - I've used them for hours upon hours of calls & the person on the other end always hears me very clearly, even whilst working in semi-noisy environments. Keep in mind, call quality as always, will depend on your mobile carrier & how the reception is at both ends. I'm on Australia's best carrier so my opinion's coming via a good source of cellular coverage.

& because of this, I can only say buy buy buy.

This type of question comes up all the time. There's no indication of any updated AirPods to be released in 2018. If you want the AirPods now, I would take advantage of them. If they are updated, it likely wouldn't be until fall 2018.

I did the mistake of waiting for almost a year before buying them, thinking Apple would release new ones...

One of the best buys that I've made. Of most of the things that I've bought recently, the AirPods have made the biggest difference in day to day things when I use earphones.

I was going to post this question myself and saw this thread. What are your thoughts on what will change, when they change? Black would be great, of course. Will Apple go fruity colors or Mac/iPhone colors? Seems like if they started off offering the Home Pod in two colors that they would at least do the same with AirPods.
