I don’t know what to do. I bought an Apple MacBook Pro 13 Inch about. Year ago. I bought the 250 some dollar Apple care. One day I put my thumb in the gap and lifted to open the lid and I felt a pop. The screen popped and the top part turned back. Over the next day or so, the whole opals is black. I allapplqre and was prepared to have to pay 99.00 to get a new screen. They wouldn’t honor any of it. I didn’t matter that I ought AppleCare. They had created a new AppleCare I the past year and s(nice I did t have that one, mine wasn’t good anymore. They gave me a list of p;aces I could call and possibly get it fixed there.. so now I have broken laptop and a year of AppleCare that isn’t worth a Penny.. even though I paid over 250 for it.
How can they create a new warrantee, pretty much the same as the other, and not honor the ones that people bought until they expire???

Hello! I'm sorry to hear about your MacBook Pro, and the issues with getting it serviced.

How did you get in contact with the representatives?

Also, please check here to see if your AppleCare coverage is still available.

As someone who has worked with Apple products and services through my own personal life and through selling them I'm not convinced that you talked to someone knowledgeable. Their coverage plans have changed recently but they are legally not able to drop your coverage for such a reason.

AppleCare+ is now available in the United States and Japan and adds up to two instances of accidental damage coverage but that in no way makes the former AppleCare coverage obsolete. In fact, I live in Japan where the new AppleCare+ coverage is now available and went out of my way to find a copy of the former version without accidental coverage at a lower price for my 2017 iMac.

Did you register the AppleCare that you purchased for your MacBook Pro?

I agree you should contact Apple again per the advice above. Something isn't right.

Nothing about your account sounds normal. Did you buy the AppleCare directly from Apple? We’re you taking your computer to an actual Apple Store? A new Apple Care doesn’t nullify yours. Either they’re pulling one over on you, or you on us—not sure which TBH.

There is AppleCare and there is AppleCare+.

AppleCare does not cover physical damage to the device, it only covers the same stuff the regular warranty does but for 3 years (2 years after the original warranty). Using regular AppleCare has no expectation of money lay-out by the customer for a repair.

AppleCare+ covers accidental damage to a computer, in addition to the warranty extension to 3 years. With this plan, there IS a cost associated with physical damage, what that cost is depends on the device.

It sounds like you bought AppleCare and are expecting AppleCare+ coverage, you won't get it. Confirm what you bought and set expectations accordingly.

I agree with the previous post. Your MacBook Pro 13" suffered accidental damage but you only have Apple Care which does not cover accidental damage. Apple Care Plus does cover accidental damage after paying a deductible, however, you do not have that coverage. Therefore any repairs done by Apple will be at your expense.

Doesn't sound like accidental damage to me. Sounds more like a defect in the part.
It's not like he/she dropped it on the floor. They just tried opening the lid. So to me I'd hope that would be covered by the regular Apple Care.

Now all he has to do is convince Apple. Little chance of that.
