I really want to enhance my Apple ecosystem, but can´t decide between buying my first Apple watch or a pair of AirPods Max. I have the Airpods pro and i use them all day, so i really want to try out the Max. But the Apple Watch also seem really convenient.

So i ask you guys that maybe have both, wich of these do you enjoy the most? Buy the Max and wait for the s7? Or go with the s6 and rethink the Max? Let me know your experience! (Note: i do own a pair of WH3s, but i dont really like the Sonys)

I don't own either the Watch or AirPods, but would go for the Watch because there's so much you can do with it, not the least of which is improve your health.

In a van down by the river
OK but what if I get an iPhone 12 Mini instead? Which carries more weight?
I think that question deserves it own thread with a poll. :D It would be interesting to see how people vote.

"What does it take to be a full-fledged Apple Nerd on MR" ?

From my personal viewpoint, if you got the 12 mini that would earn you a lot of forum credentials with me and many others, because I dig the small phone. I couldn't make you full-fledged though because you already have an iPhone. Hardcore would be watch territory with iPhone and M1.

If you got the mini, you would be an Apple groupie. :p

Geez, and I thought having written Hypercard programs way back was enough. 😂

@bjerko1, if you're in the US, Best Buy is having a decent sale on the Watch series 6, and even better prices on the open box for some models/colors. There's an open box 40mm for $295.99 and a 44mm for $297.99. That's pretty tempting, although there's likely to be more reseller sales as we get closer to the fall.

Apple Watch makes way more sense than that superficial listening experience improvements from AirPods Max. Unless you have a very real reason to get AirPods Max, I second posts above about picking Apple Watch.
Btw, even AirPods Max wont allow you to enjoy lossless audio, which AirPods Pro can’t do anyways.

Why not get both and "enhance the ecosystem" by 2x?

You can't use the Max all day like the airpods pro. So if it has to be just one, get the watch and wait for the updated airpods pro.

With the introduction of Spatial Audio (Dolby Atmos in Apple Music) I can see the pull of the APMs, especially given they will last a full working day (and some) on a single charge, where as the APP will not. My concern will be is that you would buy the APMs and feel like you have an upgraded experience not an entirely new experience that you would get with an AW.

Plus, the AW will work with your current APP!! Don't know if you are into fitness but it takes some beating that you can go for a run with just a watch and IEM's - no cable, full gps support including altitude, a lot of fitness tracking - heart rate, cadence, VO2 max, blood oxygen levels, you can listen to music/podcasts, all while running with even a guided run at the same time.

Defo the AW for me. Plus, I reckon one day Apple will come out with high definition audio on wireless headphones to take advantage of their SA and make the APMs obsolete.

If you're listening to music with headphones very often, try the APM to see if they're worth the price for you.
If they aren't, get an Apple Watch (but inform yourself beforehand, what it can do and if you would be interested in those features).

Hey! thank you so much for all the great tips on my first world problem! when I posted this thread last night (Norwegian time) I never did expect so many great opinions :) so after reading through your comments I have decided to go for the Apple Watch. to awnser some questions; yes I'm big into fitness and health. I also have illnesses that advice me to keep up with my heart rate too, in reality the Apple Watch is a no brainer. But I am in fact a industrial design student and I absolutely love design choices made to the Max, so the Max was more of a fun buy, and the Apple Watch more practical. but I'm going to put some money aside for a few months and get them then. again thank you so much for your comments and making my next Apple purchase much easier, what a great community!!
