Yes. the return can only be done at retail store though.

Curious on this too, My IUP is screwed up because of an AppleCare replacement so I can’t do the get ready portion of the preorder OR upgrade from my phone. I was thinking of just preordering a device for full price then doing store pick up and when I got there, switch it to the IUP and and they can link my current IUP and take my trade in.
