hey looking at these cheap prices for these games on steam (14 and 21 respectively. should i buy now or wait till mac release for a better deal? (i wont be playing until they actually come out on mac either way)

If you're not going to play them until they're released for OS X, you might as well wait. All of Valve's games have been free or had reduced prices when they were released for Mac, from what I recall (I could be wrong, anybody else remember for sure?).

that argument can apply to any video game, thus its a logical fallacy. Besides everything is different. Weapons, characters, the ability melee, new enemies, new locations and levels. Come on!

It's absolutely different! It's less tense, more action-based than the first game. It's more relentless, really gives the feeling that the infection has spread.
I prefer the gameplay of 1 but the extra modes of 2.
Valve is on a summer sale, and Left 4 Dead 2 is 66% off TODAY - and ONLY today. Since it was missing in my collection, I bought it for 10.20 Euros. Even if you still have to wait for the Mac version, it's a no-brainer to buy it today.
