I recently used the Quick Start feature to set up my iPad Pro (see link below). If you are setting up a new iOS device, you can use your iPhone that has
iOS 11 installed to use Apple's Quick Start. Once you turn on your iPad, during the set up process it will ask you if you have an iPhone or another iPad that you want to use to
set up your iPad. It was a quick process. The only thing I think I had to do was enter a few passwords for security, Apple Pay, and do the fingerprint scan.
It will give you the options of restoring from back up. I think you can chose from any device you have in the cloud. I opted not to do that which eliminates me downloading any 3rd party apps. Quick Start will install your Mac Mail account only, iCal, Address Book,
Quick Start will automatically enter any wifi passwords for you too. This feature still works when you are at another location where you had used their wifi before with your iPhone. For example, I visited a relative's home with my iPhone and iPad. After logging onto my iPad, a window popped up asking if I wanted to use this wifi since it was already added to my iPhone. So now whenever I visit places where I've entered the wifi password on my iPhone, the iPad can connect to it too without having to enter the passwords.
As for Apps, I didn't want to restore from backup because there are some Apps that I did not need thats on my iPhone. So I manually chose the ones from iCloud. If it's not compatible it will not install. For example, Instagram is an iPhone App, so you won't be able to use that.
