I've been waiting paitently to purchase an iMac 27' computer with upgraded RAM, HD, software and other bells andwhistles. My budget is to spend $2,500 - and even this is expensive. However, I do want to move into the OSX and away from Windows.
I have been very cautious in whehter this investment is worth it due to the numerous complaints ranging from the yellow tinted sceens, grey bars, buzzing screeens, scratched DVDs, and many other more trival issues. Keep it mind, apples to apples with a comparable PC will run a lot less. I suspect that Apple Care is really an insurance pool that consumers invariably subscribe to based upon tribal knowedlge of Apples routninely needed repair beyond their limited 1 year warranty. Componnets suchs as logic boards and other components fail a lot soner than those found in competitors machines. I surmisethat Apple uses cheap parts and hikes up their prices with cheap components. when there IS a failure or warranty claim, it comes out of a win-win insurance pool and higher-priced retail CPUs. Actuaries have stuff like this figured out. Planned obsolescene, if you will. Its a business model.
Anyway, Im still clining on to my PC but its showing its age.
Is it wise to wait until early Spring for the 2011 iMac, or will there be very minor changes not worth waiting for. What differences or chaneges do you expect Apple to to improve upon with this early 2011 iMac refresh. Is it an entirely new design or just a minor refresh. To be honest, the components are not exactly cutting-edge as is, so I would hope for substantive improvements in this area. Most concerning though, is this YELLOW TINT COLOR BLEMISH. - Will this be fixed or solved by 2011 or are we looking at antoher flawed iMac generation.
Please HELP.
I really really want to buy this computer, but am concerned about the many hundreds of thousands of complaints for the yellow tint issue. It worries methat on the Apple forum, Apple ha actively deleted posts which raise complaints about the extent of the yellowing problem. Is Apple completely ignoring this problem or are they just not addressing it in lieu of mobile projects which is currently the big thing.
APPLE and STEVE JOBS are you LISTENING to your CUSTOMERS??!?!
Is it safe to buy an iMac without yellow screens with buzzing sounds from dimming the brightness, permanently scratching DVDs and grey bars.
****APPLE IS LOSING A LOT OF REVNUE BY NOT ADDRESSING THIS YELLOW SCREEN ISSUES ASAP. *****
Seems they no longer care about the loyal Mac users of years who built their reputation.
****PLEASE JUST FIX THIS iMAC or find a NEW SUPPPLIER who cabn ASSEMBLE them PROPERLY.****
Thanks for listening and comisserating with my strong desire to give $2.5K to a company with 51 Billlion in CASH reserves. Im just severely disappointed that they are more concerned with taking boatloads of money for what appears to be declining quality for a product which is no longer a permium system.
Shame on you Apple and Steve Jobs. Short term profits will only get you so far before you alienate customers with truly practical applicational needs and not routine email and internent chatter which you could easily be performed on a a rainbow colored screen. For those who rely on a screen with consistent color gradients, this iMac is absolutely unacceptable.
