Will 1.1.3 be so secure that one can't bypass activation with it?

I'm on a different O2 contract at the moment, and am aiming to get the iphone soon. Can I afford to idle around? Or I should quickly get my hands on the 1.1.2 asap?

There is always that off-chance that they will release some new hardware at macworld. You'd be kicking yourself in a few weeks if that happened. Plus the SDK comes out in February, which will open a whole new world of development for the iPhone, not to mention hacking potential.

All that said, I'd get one now, hack it and start enjoying it.

Also, a simple search shows me that this is about the 5th post of its kind: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/407796/

It really doesn't matter how secure they try to make it. Hackers will always find a way to install 3rd party apps...

i'm not very familiar with hacking and stuffs. but i'm just worried cuz ever since (or never since) we've not software unlocked the 4.6 bootloader, i dare not say "nothing is unhackable" anymore...

in defence of my laziness to search posts, i'm not really concerned about 3G or increased capacity.
but the reminder on macworld, and the in-case-of-new model with ensuing price drop heads up is appreciated!
thanks

so, how soon will the shelf 1.1.2 run out after the new firmware is released, do you guys think.

The idea is that if apple is going to have a SDK, they will officially support accessing the iPhone in disk mode, giving some people hope that they'll be able to modify the bootloader and other things as they wish. My guess based on how Apple has increasingly locked down the firmware in each new version is that they're going to make it pretty difficult to do this, but here's hoping.
