Hi All,

Brand new here, I'm heading to the Apple store in Toronto tomorrow and wanted to know if I should go ahead and buy a Mac Book, or if I should wait? (I am the guy that goes and buys an iPod and the next day they announce a newer version!).

Any 'strong' rumors of an update to the mac book line worthing waiting to happen?

TIA

Ah the classic question.

If you need it now buy it, if you don't need it wait. An update should be coming around the corner soon. With Leopard coming out before the end of Spring you will also get the new OS with your Macbook. If you are getting a Macbook Pro there is a better chance of them having an update sometime around June to keep up with competitors that will be offering the Santa Rosa chips. Macbooks I'm not too sure of, they most likely will be updated a month or two after the Macbook Pro. If anything at least wait till Leopard comes out, no sense in buying it when it's so close to it's release.

based on what i've gleaned from the rumor mills, i would say that the next possible MacBook update is June but my personal prediction is later than that. there really isn't much they can do to the current MacBooks right now. i say go ahead and buy.

I just give myself deadlines. Like I bought the latest and greatest nano 1 month before my marathon.

Now I start grad school in August, so I will evaluate the rumors and analyze future events and make my best guess late july early august.

If i gotz to have one, then I gotz to have one.

Wow! Thanks for the quick replys. I think I'll take the plunge (never owned an apple computer before). Any other advice I should have to take with me to the store?

I just bought my first Apple (a MBP) two days ago. I love it so far. As far as advice goes... If you are in school use the education discount. If you know someone in college that can log into their school's website this will suffice. I logged into mine, but i could have logged in under any name, they didnt even really look. Also there was a military discount if that applies to you.

I switched about 2 years ago and have loved every minute of it. :)

You will find the Mac experience very pleasurable and rewarding.

Enjoy :) :)
