With Apple, yes - and even then it is a guessing game.

With other vendors, you can usually expect:
- Quick adoption of new tech (if Intel launches a new processor, it will show up as soon as practical)
- NDA presentations on upcoming hardware
- A phased transition (the previous generation of tech will be sold alongside the latest for some time)

Intel has been shipping Haswell-EP processors for 8 or 9 months - but can anyone predict whether Apple will announce tomorrow that the MP6,2 (or MP7,1) will use these improved CPUs? No.
