I've heard that phrase Soo many times in this form as people pondered what to purchase. Up until today my main machine was a 12-core 2010 MacPro (3.33) with 36 GB memory, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2048 MB and eight SSDs.

My primary use is Logic Pro X, but I'm starting to use it for a little video production and image editing.

Current issues include daily issues with bluetooth, noise from my speakers (USB audio - Komplete Audio 6) and noise fan: I have to turn it off when I record using my laptop.

So I purchased the current MacPro. Yes, I know that I can't upgrade the video (came with D700) or the ram (came with 1 TB) but it works for me.

It's quiet and obviously well-engineered for what it is. Will I ever upgrade to the new MacPro in 2018? Not right away. This should last me for several years.

I have to laugh a little at the current criticism of Apple not innovating anymore. This was a major leap of faith for them. I'm guessing that they assumed that the machine would be more upgradeable that it was/is. Just imagine if this had been placed in a mini-tower ... or cube.

Anyway, went refurbished and totally happy. There is value to this machine.

"Value" is relative to the needs of the purchaser. You found a system that works well for your needs and paid what you felt comfortable paying, and there isn't anything wrong with that! Sure the system might be dated by current standards, but it still helps you accomplish what you need it for. Congratulations on your purchase! :)
