As per title, with cloud services will 32g be big enough, or 16g? Do movies take up a lot of space? Opinions?

High quality movies can potentially take up 3gb each, so if you're planning to do long airplane or car trips where you might not have access to the 3g for streaming videos, you'd want more storage.

I have a lot of music and am also an amateur photographer and I went with the 32g.. I don't plan on putting my music on it, and as far as pictures go you can get a lot on there, I just plan on being selective not to put EVERYTHING on there.

I'm not sure how much space movies take up, but I never have more than a few movies on my laptop at a time, so I don't anticipate it being an issue...

It really is a personal thing, I have an Iphone and and Ipod touch and I've gotten a pretty good feel of how much room I'll use.. And most of my space on those devices is taken up by music.

I'd go with the 32g if I was unsure of my space requirements, and wanted to carry a few movies. If you really aren't sure, just get the 64g and clear up all doubts!!:p

Honestly it is up to you how the iPad is utilized... Movies can be VERY SMALL or VERY LARGE depending on how you encode them or convert them. No one will know your space usage since we don't know the type of movies. Honestly if you are asking yourself this question now why don't you spend the extra 100$ to get the MOST possible space? You've already taken the leap to spend an extra 130$ on the 3G version.

I first ordered a 32gig wifi and then changed my mind and went with the 64 and I am glad I did. You can never have enough space but it sure sucks when you run out of it. Pay the extra hundred and get the 64. You will be happy you did. Trust me!

I agree, that ducks!

I was also in the same predicament- I ended up going 64GB because in the end $100 more for double the storage is worth it. I don't see myself using all the storage, but that could easily change depending on how much I use the device. I also figured once I'm ready for a new version of the iPad or something that having the highest end model would have the highest resale value.

I say get the 32. I wish I would've. Otherwise you'll probably end up having to take things on and off to fit on the hard drive, and it'll kind of be a hassle.

16GB ftw. i do not foresee myself even needing that much. if I find myself needing more, Ill fleabay it and get a bigger one

I'm getting ready to buy the 64gb 3G version when it's in stores next week. But that's only to make sure I'm future-proof. Right now, the 16gb can handle everything you need, most likely.

At first I worried about putting on all of my iTunes songs and videos, etc. But I plan on getting a Rhapsody subscription for $10 a month, which gives you streaming access to pretty much every song out there. It takes up next to no space, and with 3G access, it means having access to an unlimited amount of music no matter where you are. Which is great. With iPad OS 4.0, there will be support for background applications, which will make Rhapsody on par with the iPod app.

And for video, I have a Netflix subscription that I use for my Xbox and tv-connected Mac Mini (I dumped cable months ago, it's great). With the Netflix app available for free, that gives me access to a ton of movies and tv shows, and once Hulu becomes available in late May for an expected $10/month, then I'll have access to all the new shows too. It's way cheaper than iTunes, and it's legal. And if you must watch your downloaded videos, then get Air Video, which converts the videos on the fly and streams it over your network to your iPad.

So why get the 64gb? When I bought my iPhone, instead of the 32gb, I opted for the 16gb. It was fine at the time. I couldn't anticipate needing much more, since games and apps were relatively small a year ago. Then I downloaded Navigon, which is pretty huge, and a ton of apps, including games that are several hundred mb in size. I can't see why you would need 64gb now in an iPad, but in a year or so, it'll be obvious.

Just my 2 cents.
