Ok, it's 2019 and I still rock my MP5.1 with its stock ATI 5770 and its 4-cores 3.2GHz. I have not any impelling reason to upgrade to 10.14, but I noticed that when I play via bootcamp my PC games (mostly indies and strategy games, I have an Xbox for the big titles) the performance of my 5770 begins to falter.

So, in the end, I've decided to inform myself about the possible upgrades, and this is my doubt: I better
-buy a GTX 970 flashed to show the bootscreen and sell my 5770,
or
- buy a stock brand-new GTX 1650 and installing beside to 5770?

In the second case, my doubts reside in the power consumption, and possible incompatibilities on the Mac side.

Thanks for reading.

You cannot have a non-metal card (5770) in the MP5.1 if you want to install and run Mojave (10.14). So you must go to a supported flashed card or a windows card (like the most used here as I read RX580 or any other metal capable GPU) but with losing boot screens.

GTX 1650 is not supported by the NVIDIA web drivers, so it's not a option unless you only use Windows with your Mac Pro.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I'll buy a stock GTX 1050 as a stopgap. After the modular MP7.1 reveal I will ponder what to do next ;)

GTX 1050 is know to now work at all or have problems when installing in a MP5,1. Maybe it’s better to spend a little more and get an used GTX 1070.

Really? We sold two of these with boot screens and no issues were reported.
I couldn't get a PC Eyes GT 1050 2GB and a Galax GT 1050Ti 4GB to work, other people here had problems too.

What maker/model worked for you?
