What should I buy along with the laptop? I would be creating podcasts, websites, videos, editing stuff, and photos. I wouldn't be using businessy stuff, like word and excel kind of stuff.

I was thinking ilife?
Is Mac OS X worth the buy?

Thanks

They all come as standard with every new mac, so you don't need anything else.

Cool. Thanks! So does OS X come with it?

No, but Macs do. (sorry to be technical). All new and Apple refurb Macs come pre-installed with the latest OS X and the latest iLife (which includes all the apps discussed above).

To be honest, to get started, I think you'll have everything you need in terms of the basics. You might consider these things:

- Photoshop Elements 4 or something similar if you want to do graphics editing related to your website design

- An external microphone of some kind if you're going to be doing a lot of voice recording (the laptop has a fair quality microphone built-in, that is fine for just voice podcasts, but not sufficient for music).

- Any other related hardware you want -- cameras, music-related gear, etc.

But aside from PSE, I don't see that you'll really need software immediately. And even PSE, only if you plan on doing photo editing.

With the money you save, you may also think of buying a decent set of earplugs and a deepfreezer!:)

i Would say buy iWork, as it a great 2 apps, Keynote blows PowerPoint out oof the water and i LOVE pages(however some people seem to think word is better)

I would recommend an external hard drive for back-ups and extra storage. I'm just about to buy one for my PB, for these reasons. My 80gb hard drive sounded like a lot at the time, but the space just seems to go.

Thanks Guys

Lol. Yeah, I think that I'll be able to save up for another 500 years before I get any really cool apps. Even a basic mac is unbelievable.
Thanks guys

video editing - FCE (final cut express)
Photo Work - (adobe Photoshop CS 2)
Web Pages - Macromedia Bundle (fireworks, Dreamweaver, Flash)

thats pretty much some of the best stuff for what you're doing

of course you could get it alot cheaper...somehow:rolleyes: ;)
