Hey everyone,

I'm supposed to buy a used late-2009 Mac mini model tomorrow, with 2.26GHz cpu. This will be the first ever mac for me. I'm paying $500 CAD for it.

Am i getting a good deal here? Will I get a full mac experience with the mini? I understand it's almost 2 years old, but I thought since it's my first time owning a mac, i'd take it easy at first.

any answers/tips/advice are welcome.

thanks

That sounds like an alright deal, but wouldn't it be better to buy a refurbished on the Apple store to be sure it works instead of probably works?

It has 2GB of RAM, 320GB of hd space. I didn't go the refurbished route because it would have cost more, plus taxes on top of that.

When I say full mac experience, what I meant was that I won't have any problems watching videos online, browsing the web, itunes, and so on.. I hope the mini will be able to handle all of that.

It certainly can handle that, however, that seems a bit pricey for a used, stock model.

2GB RAM and the stock hdd are slow . proper upgrade is add ram and a better hdd. adding a 4gb stick of ram and a good hdd would make it a nice mini.

i did the 2.26 mini around 30 to 40 times selling them on ebay for a few dollars profit. so you are really looking at 630 or 650 CAD to have the machine work well. the upgrade above is far better then the machine as stocked. I would buy a 2.26 mini for 419 USD once in a while on apple refurb store. that model had 2 gb and 160gb hdd. I was always happy to get one I would add about 100 in mods and sell for 650 usd after fees and shipping I would make about 50 to 75 bucks.

thanks, everyone. got the mini this morning, and am just reinstalling snow leopard. hopefully everything goes smoothly.

now to figure out how to transfer my itunes library and files from my win7 laptop to the mini..
