I live in canada, not far from the Border

I am looking into getting an MacBook Pro, here in canada the prices for it is $2,199.00CAD witch is ($2,301.42 USD), in usa the same laptop is $1,999.00USD witch is ($1,910.52 CAD), witch means i would save $289 CAD on a laptop ... if u ask me thats a good deal .. now my question is would the warranty still work on it even if i lived in canada

Hi. I just went through the similar thing as you last friday. I live in Canada and just bought and macbook pro. If you ask me, the $200+ price difference is not justified at all. Anyways, I called up apple and talked to the guy for awhile and told him my thoughts, and he offered to give me the macbook pro for $120 cheaper. However, that didn't really work with my student discount... it was either one of the other :(
As for the warrenty, I have no idea. But if you do decide to buy it in canada call up the apple store and see what they can do for you!

Apple has International Warranty.

However, if you buy in the US, you will have to pay Duty when coming back across the border, not sure how much that works out to be.

I would do as the other person suggested, and call Apple. Or, go to your local retailer and see if they have any deals on. I used to see some good deals like a free iPod and printer, stuff like that...

Don't forget taxes in America. I bought my computer in Chicago (1999) but then it had 130$ more in taxes. So it ended up costing 2129$... or something like that.

I call the apple and they are giving me $100 OFF
thats not a deal at all i am saving $289 CAD ($304 USD) on the laptop from what it would cost me here in Canada

as for taxes, here in Ontario i need to pay 14% on $2,199.00 CAD and if i bought it in Michigan i need to pay 6% on $1,999.00 USD, so at the end of the day i save even MORE since the tax is less

and for duty, i just bring a back pack over, and put it in, throw the box away, and i can say i was over at friends place doing homework, and they wont know i just got a computer, since canadians don't check what u bring into the usa, they will never know if i had one to start with or not, and i just use the computer, before i stuck it in and if they ask to power it on i can show them it works

Here is the Math

in Canada

MacBook Pro = $2,199 CAD X 14% (Ontario tax) = $2,506.86 CAD = ($2,638.56 USD)

in USA

MacBook Pro = $1,999 USD X 6% (Michigan Tax) = $2,118.94 USD = ($2,013.03 CAD)

So i can get a same laptop in USA with tax for Less Money then what it is going for here in Canada before tax
