Ok..so I'm in the market for a new mbp and I hear there are updates in the works. If, say, the update came out the 5th, could I go to the apple store and buy it that day, or does it take a couple days for them to get in stock? Thanks.
Based on my experience with some of the Southern California stores, it really depends on the individual stores. They don't all get the same allocations of product. Usually the higher traffic stores get them first and/or higher quantities. I think Northridge and Santa Monica would be good examples - at least at the time of the 17" C2D MBP arrival.
SJ usually says at the keynotes if theyre going to be availalbe "right now" or not, but seeing as they will more than likely be announced on the 5th, i would guess they'll be ready right away
it depends on the store and the configuration of the computer. for example when the C2D MBP first released, i had to wait almost three weeks for mine. apparently glossy screen is not that popular.
like gr8tfly says, chances are that the flagship apple stores (i.e. apple store at the grove in LA) will get a bigger allocation of products.
If its announced on the 5th then you should be able to get it on the day, seeing as you want a stock model.
if its released at WWDC and therefore the 11th it might not be available straight away. Not uncommon for them to give a date such as the end of June for release.
And like everyone has said it depends on the store.
