Buying a MacBook

Hey guys,

I'm planning on buying a 2.16 GHz C2D MacBook in a few weeks.

I've checked the MacRumors buyer's guide, and it looks like there probably won't be another hardware refresh until the end of the year. I don't want to wait that long.

The reason I want to buy before Leopard is released is that until mid-September, Apple is including $199 vouchers for college students toward the cost of an iPod.

So my questions are:
- Is upgrading from Tiger to Leopard likely to cause any trouble?
- Can Final Cut run OK on a non-pro MacBook? I may be doing some editing, but I don't need any real-time compositing.

10.5 will run perfectly on the new MacBook. I planning on running it on my iMac G5 no problem.

Final Cut, I think should be fine, I can't see it being very taxing on the GPU...but RAM is always your friend !

Final Cut Studio is not supported on MacBook
If you have a MacBook, the Final Cut Studio (Universal) crossgrade Installer does not prohibit you from installing the pro applications, but this configuration does not meet the minimum system requirements for Final Cut Studio.

Note: The integrated graphics processor in the MacBook does not permit float processing in Motion and will result in degraded performance and other issues in Motion and other Final Cut Studio applications.

Although MBs aren't officially supported, they handle FCS rather well - if you check the MacRumors video editing thread, you'll see plenty of people running FCS on MBs nicely.

Actually, it’s Color that is the most problematical; although Motion doesn’t run quickly on MBs, it is usuable,
